WHAT WEALTH?

Possibly the saddest realisation a man can make is to have material wealth and little else.

TO DREAM

Love yourself enough to dream and to be authentic enough to live that dream. The passion that comes from living the dream creates the dream.

DRAMA OF PAIN

Sometimes the drama of our pain is more comfortable than the effort to elicit healing!

REGULAR AFFIRMATION OF SELF

The only route to be MORE is to regularly affirm yourself rather than persistently seeking the hollow approval of others.

HEALING

Healing comes when we are truly grateful for all Life's lessons and can reach beyond ourselves to "touch" the hurt in others to spread the light.

PASSION DRIVES PURPOSE

If you aren't fired with your passion, you merely exist.
Passion creates purpose - without which life is meaningless!

EMBRACING THE GIFTS OF ADVERSITY, INCLUDING AIDS, TO EMPOWER A HURTING HUMANITY

In many respects, I am a modern day Job. Job was the Biblical Old Testament character who was stripped bare and suffered greatly. Through perseverance and tenacity of purpose, Job ultimately triumphed over adversity.

I have lived through the death of a much sought after child, faced an unwanted divorce, saw a considerable career in asset management and investment research implode in a bankruptcy precipitated by believing that the "credit crunch" should have started in early 1997. Following the loss of all my money, I endured nearly a decade in court facing serious criminal charges following that bankruptcy. My conviction (and subsequently being sentenced to 8 years in jail) was ultimately dropped in a High Court Appeal that lasted only 20 minutes! This finally proved the extreme travesty of justice of the earlier court fiasco. Four years ago, almost like the cherry on the cake, I was diagnosed with HIV and have twice lived in full-blown Aids.

I am now considerably healthy, both physically and emotionally. I do not view the adversities of the past as a God-inflicted punishment or bad luck. I believe I have been blessed with several disguised opportunities to grow and become MORE through extreme challenge. I now choose to share this learning to help millions of people who are caught in the current economic downturn as well as those who regularly think like victims never realising that such thinking only invites further hardship or struggle.

Having counselled people for over 25 years and now having written two inspirational books (the second book - "Choosing to be MORE!" to be published soon), as well as having taught hundreds of people life skills in groups and through the internet, as well as being the author of regular motivational/inspirational snippets, I now choose to launch Learning Circles Media, a diversified media company that aims to give people back to themselves.

As a visionary, I revolutionised the South African investment scene in 1989, by introducing the multi-manager approach to investment to this country. Foresight now tells me that Learning Circles is much needed in a hurting world to bring appropriate life skills teaching to the broader community. Most people are currently struggling with the huge evolutionary shift caused by severe and potentially prolonged economic hardship. The HIV/Aids pandemic and global warming are also calling for radically changed attitudes to ensure survival.

I wish to partner with like-minded "servant leaders" to bring Learning Circles to early fruition. Not since the Great Depression of the 1930's has the need been more urgent to help people find happiness and make sense out of chaos and to prosper from adversity. Those interested in becoming stakeholders of Learning Circles should email me at:

indigo-man@indigo-man.com

Very little capital is required; approx US$60 000!

Part of starting this exciting Learning Circles project would be the creation of the Isibani Trust (Isibani means "bringing the light"). The Isibani Trust would empower HIV+ women to rear and educate Aids orphans in self-sustaining communities, to make an invaluable contribution to their societies. Isibani would be largely staffed by HIV+ personnel who choose to change negative perceptions around HIV/Aids as well as giving back to life in meaningful ways.

The aim at the outset is to gather a team of people who choose to make a significant positive difference to as many people around the world as possible.

Now let's change the world in positive ways, because WE ALL CAN!

BEING BROKE...

Being broke should not be the invitation to be broken. Life's challenges always conceal the hidden seeds to be MORE!

BEING BROKE...

Being broke should not be the invitation to be broken. Handled with fortitude and by searching for greater understanding of circumstances, lies the seeds that grow us to be MORE!

FINDING THE WAY

Use the creative aspects of your mind to find innovative solutions to life's challenges. Move your thinking beyond "automatic"; unfold consciousness to reveal hidden treasure.

ODE TO JAMES

When you were born...
when I first saw your lovely, little face...
I knew this was to be the happiest day in my life.

In you, I saw a manifestation of my own being
present in the world.
My heart leapt...
it positively swelled with joy.

And now life has taken us down an unexpected road;
our paths have been prematurely split
not by design
not by any perverted wish
but by inexplicable fate.

Those moments together
frequently taken for granted,
have been cut short.

In those formative moments
when
I so dearly wish to watch you mature
we are apart...

Life decided you should have another "father"
not of your choice either.

When I do see you...
those fleeting snatches of heaven,
I feel the warm flame of love
that separation never extinguishes,
I see the longing in your eyes
I hear the forced understanding in your voice
and I know...

that we will never be divorced!

(James Frederick Harvey Fox, my son, was born twenty years ago today. He is as precious today as he was then!)

LABOUR VS RECREATION

Our greatest satisfactions don't come from recreation but from purpose-driven labour; this is sublime soul food! We "re-create" to re-energise and to bring a freshly refocused perspective.
