RECIPE FOR A GREAT YEAR

Without a dream, life is meaningless!

It is our dreams that ignite the drive and passion to do what we need to do every day in order to manifest them into reality. As we bring focus to the dream, so life energises its possibility by allowing everything of a similar frequency to come effortlessly in our direction. The intensity of the dream becomes its own creative force.

Often we feel overwhelmed by all that needs to be done in order to bring our highest wishes into existence. "How will I ever find the money?" "Do such people exist?" "Am I capable of achieving all that I want to?" These are some of the questions that come to test our resolve to push relentlessly into an unknown future. If we allow these doubts to overwhelm, we sabotage our best laid intentions.

The cement of any dream is the faith that life is faithful and can be trusted to deliver at the most appropriate moment. Life gives us what we ask for and relative to the intensity of our belief that we deserve the requisite outcome. We need to love ourselves enough to expect good things in life. Many people have survived untold hell, because they never gave up on the belief that events would work out favourably. They saw the light before it was visible!

Dreams become reality when we take a small step every day in the direction of those dreams. The desire to leap into the future is laden with the potential for self-sabotage. These huge leaps are stacked with risk and most frequently invite the fear of failure. Nothing can ever succeed if it is spiced with a notion of disaster before it has begun.

But small steps are easy to negotiate and to execute. They come naturally and sequentially, just as we are ready to make the next most appropriate move. Whilst small steps may seem frustrating to the person who is hellbent on instant gratification, they are the natural building blocks of life. Make sure they are small and manageable and are all positioned in the direction of the dream. Sometimes we go in the wrong direction to discover we are in a dead-end, which just requires us to spend time moving back onto our chosen course.

One small step might appear irrelevant in the overall scheme of things. But in one year, if we are able to make 365 small steps all on top of each other, we suddenly look back in amazement at the untold progress that has been achieved. 365 small steps stacked up on one another is more than any giant leap could possibly ever achieve.

Rather than spending time fretting on how to achieve the big things in your life, concentrate your full energy to making the next most important small step in the direction of your dreams. Once that is done, look for guidance as to the next most relevant small step that needs to be taken. This is the sure route to avoiding frustration or being dogged by negativity. The joy of doing what needs to be done next, energises us for the progression going forward. Stick to the vision and never give up!

This all sounds too easy. It is and you don't need to be a genius to execute such a process either. You need a dream and you need to begin by taking the first small step. Just do it! Just hold that focus to make the next and then the next and watch quietly with a deep reverence for life as you see your best laid plans evolve into perfect reality.

Don't waste time dreaming about where you will be this time next year. Just make sure you start a progressive chain of 365 small steps in the direction of your dream and as you come to the end of another year, recognise the simple mastery that gave rise to achieving your life's most cherished desires.

Whatever you do, engage only in anything that makes you to be MORE. The desire to expand one's existence is the essence of self-love and is a vital ingredient to any significant life. Keep on with determination... and discover that you can be the architect of a great life too!

HIV - CHOOSING TO LIVE FULLY

Being infected with HIV is not about dying!

Having HIV is about living differently - possibly better than before.
It reminds us to live in deep gratitude for the gift of life, for the considerable advancements in modern medicine and for the chance to grow substantially from adversity.

HIV is an opportunity to be MORE, both individually and as humanity in general.

THE POWER OF GIVING

As we give, so we affirm our faith in an abundant universe!

To focus on lack, invites more lack.
Feel abundant and watch Life bless you richly.

MOBILISING THE IMMOBILISED! WORLD AIDS DAY 2009

The crazy, yet alarmingly real notion of feeling like a leper keeps millions of people living silently with HIV/Aids highly immobilised. Secrets always rob us of personal power and make us to be significantly LESS than what we really are. The fear of being identified as either one who is infected or affected by HIV/Aids creates desperate personal limitation as well as making the environment rife for the further considerable spread of the virus.

Since the cataclysmic days of the early 1980's when HIV/Aids first became a prevalent killer, medical science has advanced to the point where HIV/Aids is now a chronic manageable disease like diabetes. With proper medication, nutrition and armed with a "positive" attitude, anyone infected by the Human Immunodeficiency virus can live a perfectly normal life that need not be blighted by any associated fear. HIV/Aids has really come to change human consciousness and behaviour in positive ways and the sooner we grasp the important lessons and move forward with a positive spirit, the better!

Today is World Aids Day! (every day should be spent finding a solution to this human menace)

We are reminded again of the presence of HIV/Aids in the world. May our future response always be pro-active rather than passive and geared to changing the face of the pandemic because of our individual and collective reaction. Those infected can no longer afford the liberty of self-pity nor their fear based inability to own all of who and what they are. HIV/Aids is still being given too much power by remaining an unnecessary mental prison for so many who have the virus. This stale inertia does not serve in any fashion and the stress it creates powerfully enables the further deterioration of vital immunity.

Everyone is affected by HIV/Aids whether you choose to to believe it or not! The impact of this virus on humanity is considerable and has been devastatingly destructive. But it is surely time to change the face of this personal and social disaster by taking action to rebuild and to co-create a better future out of all that remains. Every adversity has the hidden potential to expand us beyond comprehension; our attitude is all that needs to be re-engineered to make the profound difference. This World Aids Day needs to become a significant turning point where we choose to become MORE rather than LESS because of HIV/Aids.

We all gain a sense of meaningful life purpose by helping others. Many feel stripped of the desire to live and often hope for early death because of having been infected by HIV/Aids. They feel desperately hopeless and their deep inherent negativity acts as a huge drag on society in general. These destructive attitudes need to be changed because there is no need for shame or loathing when modern medicine provides such easy relief from potential suffering. We all need to mobilise our minds by instilling a driving purpose and HIV/Aids certainly gives us considerable scope and opportunity for such life enhancing purpose.

The world has millions of Aids orphans because of the effects of this pandemic. These young lives need to be nurtured and properly directed in a way that empowers rather than leaving them as victims of cruel circumstance. Here lies massive opportunity for those who have the virus to actively work to positively change the lives of these orphans by contributing time, money, expertise or a combination of these three. By doing so you are giving back to life in an act of gratitude for your life which is healing in itself and are creating a valuable life purpose which may hitherto not have existed.

As one living well with HIV (having nearly died of Aids two years ago), I have a vision to change the face of this scourge by mobilising the mass of people infected or affected by HIV/Aids to positively change the young lives of those left abandoned by their parent's Aids related deaths. We can no longer just watch the daily toll, but need to be part of a meaningful, well-planned solution that would positively enable the lives of all concerned.

Today I invite YOU to offer some of your time, money or talents to make a difference. Action rather than passive and often selfish inaction is what is now required. Here is a chance to turn your adversities to positive account by making a contribution. Let's change the dire future of those who have been orphaned by HIV/Aids and make sure that they enter adult life as positive contributors to society as well. Every negative has the potential to become a powerful positive with changed attitude and active commitment.

Please mail me today at indigo-man@indigo-man.com as you mobilise your first step to change the face of this pandemic. Since World Aids Day 2008, how have you made a difference rather than being part of an ongoing problem?

Pledge your time, talents and money and let's all make a huge difference! Let's all choose to be MORE!

EXPRESSION OF SELF

The quest for success is generally driven by what we perceive the world expects from us. In short, our paradigm for success vests with others rather than being part of who we are.

How can we ever be happy when we are motivated by the opinions of others, rather than by a sense of self-worth? Such thinking is a slavery or bondage rather than an expression of self.

MASTERING THE MIND

We urgently need to become the masters of our minds, for that is where destiny resides.

BEING RATHER THAN DOING

Life purpose is all about "being" rather than "doing". It is the natural exercise of inherent talent that encourages the flow of personal passion in the dedicated service of others. Purpose is more about natural vocation than employment and is driven by a thirsting soul rather than a quest for material gain.

To live on purpose is to satisfy the reason for living. Without it, life is vacuous and an endless crisis of existence.

OUT THE BOX!

Never put God in a box because He is more proficient than Houdini and will surely find an escape quicker than you can contain Him. Secondly, God is bigger than human consciousness, both individually and collectively, so no box is big enough to contain "All That Is".

Every belief is a box! Belief is about mental structure and has defined boundaries. From early childhood we start to take on the beliefs of those closest to us, because this is the only reference point we have. As we grow, so our point of reference starts to expand too, but sometimes we stay trapped in the comfort zone of the beliefs of our forebears because we never open our consciousness or awareness enough to see what else exists. Often by using fear as a weapon, others control our thinking and keep our beliefs tightly bound in boxes where they would have us exist. As such, we become the "great unthinking', like a herd of drifting sheep who move to where we are bidden. Education is surely only as good as it allows our minds to grow, to expand beyond the box, to discover the genius which exists in everyone.

When things go wrong, we automatically ascribe the event to "darkness" beyond the influence of God's light. We try to box God into the comfortable niceties of life and exclude Him from the pain. But how else would God give us the possibility to discover ourselves, other than through trial and tribulation? Our adversities bear the kernel for the greatest expansion of our understanding. Is this not the miracle of evolution? The extreme heat of Life's crucible burns away all unnecessary dross and it is here that were discover absolute human alchemy.

When will we start to bless all aspects of our life's journeys and see all of them as God-given, not just the sunny mountain tops but the deep, dark valleys too where the fertile soil exists? God dwells in the light as well as in every dark, heavy cloud.

By placing my God in a box, I see Him as right and your God as wrong. The great religious divide separates humanity and has been the source of considerable blood-letting for generations. The sick fanatacism of man-made dogma drives people to the point of atrocity which is not the essence of God. To be godly is surely to see and ackowledge the face of God in everyone. Bigotry and judgement create further boxes which encourage a deep separation from God Himself.

Miracles can't happen in boxes! Miracles can only happen when we drop our egos and pre-conceptions to allow for something beyond human understanding. The God of Miracles is ever present ant totally unconditional, stepping right into the vacuum we create when we open ourselves to an experience of MORE. As we open our consciousness so we begin to develop a real relationship to God, which exists in every moment rather than in the spiritually obvious. When we give God the space to be God, we begin to understand the considerable meaning of the Infinite!

THE RITE OF WRONG

You hit me... I hit you. You hit me again and I strike back. And so begins an eye for an eye for an eye...

A perpetual cycle of violence is created out of the endless desire for retribution; which is borne out of bruised ego and the inane need to assert oneself having been wronged. It is here that the so-called "pecking order" is created which is the very seat of power as we know it. The only way to break this passage of ongoing destructive behaviour demands out-of-the-box thinking like the post-apartheid Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings in South Africa, which created a climate for considerable social healing in a very innovative way.

Out first primal reaction to having been wronged is to strike back. That is the "animal" in every human where a defence instinct causes us to snarl and even to bite before considering a more powerful and meaningful reaction. The testosterone laden mind seeks revenge, because this is seen as the route to getting even and better still, a misplaced notion to getting ahead.

But when we begin to study the dynamics of energy, which is the foundation of modern quantum physics, we discover that nothing happens randomly. The root of everything (in human terms) begins with a thought which sets up a stream of energy. As this energy moves into the ether, so it causes a reaction which in turn evokes a whole chain of response. As humanity hopefully moves to greater degrees of civilisation, so we would expect enhanced consciousness to create the framework for more appropriate reactions to the ways in which we have been wronged. Rather than thoughtlessly hitting back with the intention to cause harm, it would serve us to stop and think before doing anything. Correct intention is everything!

When we begin to fully understand why someone may have wronged us, more often than not we start to see an imperfection in ourselves that deserves our attention and requisite action, thereby starting another small quest to really be MORE! People who suffer the wrong of abuse can often trace this hurt back to inadequate levels of self-love and the inability to create adequate personal boundaries. In that situation, best to first work on building adequate self-love rather than vengefully seeking retribution. It is more effective to deal with the real cause of our hurt rather than unthinkingly applying a violent response to the obvious symptom.

Many find forgiveness difficult because it effectively closes the door on retribution. Forgiveness always brings closure and considerable healing! It is not so much about letting someone off a hook, because history can never be re-written. But forgiveness dissolves "baggage" and creates an awesome lightness of being for the road ahead. All the great personalities in history chose to forgive and as a result, changed history for many others in the most profound way. Think of Jesus, of Gandhi and Mandela! These men made a better future for all because they steadfastly refused to play out the rite of wrong.

Before you lash out again, stop and think and do the "right" thing. Find the path to becoming MORE by breaking your cycle of destructive response. This is not about getting the upper hand, but more about progressing beyond your wildest dreams!

HIV/AIDS....MORE OR LESS?

Growth only occurs when we traverse personal frontiers of experience and understanding into the uncomfortable unknown!

Like most others, I believed HIV/Aids was something other people contracted, much like a cancer, stroke or other life threatening illness. I read about the great suffering wrought by the pandemic spread of HIV, but somehow felt that I would be immune to its influence, until fatefully diagnosed some four years ago. My experience of this virus would take me to the point of confronting my own mortality, as two savage episodes of full-blown Aids would severely challenge my ongoing existence.

I was not unlucky to be infected with HIV!

In truth, I had loved myself little enough to willingly engage in unprotected sex which I knew could lead to the transmission of this deadly virus. I cannot blame anyone but myself and take full responsibility for the consequences of my actions. HIV/Aids is the disease of self-love... It is generally given an opportunity to cross human boundaries by those with inadequate levels of self-love who take dangerous chances. Once infected, HIV/Aids comes to teach the art of self-love, as those infected need to exercise considerable and regular acts of self-love to preserve their ongoing life.

As a young man, I asked for a BIG life. BIG can never happen when trapped in tight boundaries and HIV/Aids was one of the vehicles that came to provide an opportunity for extreme personal growth. This is not what my perception of BIG was all about, but fighting to regain a fading life is not a small experience. Feeling life ebb away under the onslaught of repeated different opportunistic infections requires an inestimable desire to live through the dark valley in order to find the glow of life again.

Not only was this a struggle for physical survival, but my fragile ego took strain with a relentless fear as to what others might be saying or thinking. HIV/Aids taught me that the opinion of others is irrelevant and needed to be studiously avoided. More important for my mental health was the need to hold empowering thoughts to provide the mental armoury to effectively conquer this considerable life challenge. My limiting self-beliefs of feeling unwanted was also firmly revisited through the process of HIV, as I began to wonder whether anyone would willingly wish to hold and kiss me ever again. Here again HIV/Aids taught me that rejection always begins with ourselves and that stigma needs to be rooted out at source. We need to be the change we want to see in the world... it has to start with us!

Four years later, medical science and an indomitable spirit has enabled me to regain a life which today is substantially larger than before encountering this BIG experience. Apart from popping a few pills daily to ensure my ongoing survival, HIV has become a minute part of my overall life landscape. I have taken back my power and studiously keep the virus in correct perspective. I choose to live "positively" and openly with HIV, as secrets always disempower their owners.

The journey with HIV has not been easy; the journey with Aids was a nightmare! But in truth, like every adversity, HIV/Aids has expanded my life in more ways than this article permits. HIV/Aids has inadvertently made my life to be MORE rather than LESS, because I chose to live and continue to choose to live fully. Adversity is the crucible where we decide whether to grow or succumb, to be MORE or to be LESS.

Please share this testimony with others who are either curious about HIV/Aids or those whose lives have been incontrovertibly infected or affected by the virus. Let's actively move beyond a victim consciousness and change the negative impact that HIV is having on our planet!

SHAPING UP

Life relentlessly fashions us, despite our ongoing resistance to evolutionary change. The harder we try to impose our will and conform to egocentric impulse, the more stressful becomes the daily grind.

Just as we get shaped by the unexpected, so we need to look consciously at what no longer serves us. Whether they are outdated, inappropriate beliefs, relationships that have ceased to make us to be MORE, or careers that are little more than a means to an end (a dead-end!), or habitual lifestyles that cosy us with comfort but keep us trapped in a vacuum of stasis.

The decision to prune requires consummate courage fed by a burning desire to strive to be MORE! A life freed of dross is a life well prepared for energetic transformation and synthesis beyond comprehension.

ABANDON FEAR

The deepening "credit crunch, unpredictable climate change and an unfolding swine flu pandemic are some of the issues driving people into the vortex of fear. This fear is based entirely on a future we can never see, rather than being seated in making the present the most fulfilling experience that it can be.

Fear is the antithesis of God! It is the great destroyer and it comes to make life to be so much LESS than what it was meant to be. Fear cannot exist when we are fully in the present.

If everyone chose to live with the intention of discovering how they could give, rather than based on what they can take, we automatically shift from fear to love. If love is what we are reflecting into the world, love is what we will find and in abundance. That is the Law of Attraction in action!

The world is being consumed by extreme greed, hence the need for the drastic evolutionary shifts that are now happening. We all want substantially more than we need without ever stopping to see what we can give. This is the root cause of the imbalance that gives rise to poverty-driven crime and ultimately to war.

The time has come for considerable personal change, to abandon fear, to be truly grateful for ALL that we already have and to actively invite opportunity to give rather than to take. Giving does not have to be about money... it can be as simple as smiling lovingly at a stranger who desperately needs to feel the warmth of your smile.

Move beyond fear and become present. What can you do right now with what you already have to make the world a better place?

Do that small thing and experience how to become MORE!

MORE or LESS

Every human problem emanates from a lack of self-love. Whether the issue is around destructive addictive behaviour, dangerous risk-taking associated with greed or remaining in relationships that do not serve, or any other situation that has the potential to make us LESS!

We often incorrectly believe that self-love is evil, narcissistic or selfish. Self-interest and self-love are not the same because self-interest is dominated by an over-zealous ego, whereas self-love has no foundation in ego at all. Self-love is a reverence and respect for Creation and only entertains practices that make a person to be MORE.

When we engage the philosophy of being MORE, we are practising the very essence of self-love and fulfil the purpose of life which is to grow.

SOUL BONDAGE

In the quest for transient comfort, we readily succumb to placing our souls in deep bondage. As we dance for the world, our souls wither under facades that are desperately inauthentic. We support an ego that does not readily serve us, failing to notice the call of a soul that needs to grow from the challenges life brings to us.

The facade will die when we do... but our souls reach on into eternity!

INTIMACY AND EGO

Intimacy occurs when two people shed their egos and allow the light of their souls to bathe one another!

Intimacy and ego are polar opposites; ego seeks the protection of a false facade whereas intimacy reveals a purposefully vulnerable heart.

SPOT THE MISTAKE

Should we be surprised that life is a travail of tears and stress when our pre-occupation is firmly on what is not working for us?

When we stop to listen to what we say, when we become aware of what we allow ourselves to read and watch, when we finally notice the persistent negativity in our minds, then we can begin to realise that our powerful minds are carefully attracting the very things we don't want. Every thought is a stream of energy that will effectively attract things of a similar frequency, so best we bring our full attention and action to vibrating in harmony with everything we most desire.

As we speak about the lack in our lives, we actively generate the environment for that lack to perpetuate. When we keep a steady focus on what WE actually want and see it as being in process, it manifests! We must come into harmony with the life we most desire and radiate that energy and then our dreams come effortlessly.

Lack begets lack and faith moves mountains!

DESIRABLE DISCIPLINE

Human achievement all begins with considerable self-discipline! This aspect of personal control brings significant focus to the mind, which in turn creates the requisite energy to manifest desired outcomes.

Discipline begins with choice, which lies at the heart of every decision. Decisions are powerful because they channel energy and once that energy is harnessed, positive results emanate.

Self-discipline is an important act of self-love. Through the attitude of discipline we studiously reject those aspects that make us to be LESS and encourage every positive choice to be MORE. Exercise self-discipline by always asking if the people in your life, your habits and actions or your thoughts make you "MORE" or "LESS".

CLOSURE

Without closure, we remain trapped in an eddy of self-defeating stasis.

Doors need to be effectively closed to allow fresh, new openings. Closure is a finality; it is not an act of self-deceit or avoidance. We frequently leave a small space to retreat into the past, because however damaging events may have been, what we knew feels comfortable relative to the unknown that stretches before us. We often choose to keep drama alive because it brings attention, but that never allows us to move towards the best our lives can be.

Closure comes when we finally accept that the pay-off for being a victim is far less than the benefits that come from having the courage to choose to be MORE! Closure is the preserve of those who expect the best, who never doubt their ability to manifest dreams by enlisting the power of their super-conscious mind.

When we love ourselves enough to finally identify what needs closure and move decisively from a past that has already served its purpose, we discover awesome flow and are carried beneficially in the direction of our dreams. Consciousness breeds the awareness of what needs closure to allow us to live purposefully in an adventure that always provides perfect opportunities for personal evolution.

Sex which is not focused on self-gratification is lovemaking!

LIFE BEFORE DEATH!

It is often only after we have confronted our mortality that we really choose to live! As we are unwillingly taken to places where we come to the very edge of our physical lives, so we are shocked out of our unconscious existence and begin to live more fully. Such cataclysmic events help us to understand the fragility of life and we start to bless what we already have, rather than remaining trapped in a constant loop of longing for what we most desire. If we are not brought face to face with our own death, we always know of others who have to fight for their survival or we unexpectedly lose loved ones and then ache in the very vacuum of their sudden absence.

The fear of death keeps many obsessed about life after death, whereas our real challenge lies in living every moment purposefully and taking nothing for granted. Our real focus should be on living a complete life before death, to discover the perfection of life in every moment as life gradually reveals its awesome mysteries.

Our busy lives, burdened by repetitive routines, often numb us to the reality of existence. We unwittingly become automatons on a daily treadmill designed to satisfy what we believe the world expects from us, rather than consciously living out our purpose and making life our dream as opposed to dwelling in "dreamland".

It is time to wake up before life rudely shocks us into awareness. Life is NOW, in this very moment. Make it significant by turning the mundane into the magnificent and by revealing your light as your enthusiasm positively energises everything you encounter.

STEPPING OUT IN FAITH

To have faith is to transcend fear; is to fully believe in an outcome which doesn't yet exist.

Living in a consciousness of faith is to stop fretting about the "how" because of a cultured and innate knowingness that fully believes before manifestation. To live by faith is to positively employ the power of the "super-conscious" mind which is the very essence of creation. We are all architects of our existence, even the parts we refuse to fully own.

Until we become conscious of the devious meanderings of our minds and progressively learn how to harness this powerhouse of energy, we remain victims to our disempowering thoughts which live either in the "unlived" future or in the past, but rarely in the now which is where life emanates. To be conscious is to heighten awareness perpetually and to use all that comes to us as perfect knowledge to produce the most positive results.

Faith is not the rare gift of the masters. Masters choose to train their minds during everyday existence by refusing to be hostage to an unruly mind that gravitates to fear rather than living in the expectation of the very best.

Always choose to be MORE!

MOVING WITH THE FLOW OF RELATIONSHIPS

Life is a constant state of flux where everything is perpetually changing to provide us with opportunities to evolve and become MORE!

People come into our lives as profound teachers to show us aspects of life we need to learn and to mirror important information back to us to enable our development. When we experience difficult relationships, whether at work or play or of the heart, we have frequently found someone who has come to teach us considerable lessons. Rather than being dismissive of such people, we need to discover the purpose of that meeting and only once we have effectively learnt new tricks should we move on.

Relationships that lack vitality and have survived more through passive inaction than conscious cultivation have invariably served their purpose and as a consequence, seem to lack flow or dynamism. Before blaming the other person for this decayed relationship, we need to question whether the atrophy is through taking the situation for granted and a lack of effort. In such circumstances we also need to understand whether we are resisting uncomfortable change by refusing to engage in constructive confrontation to rekindle the effective energy exchange between parties.

When we come into an attitude of self-love, we do things to nurture relationships that make us to be progressively MORE! To love ourselves, we need to constantly evaluate relationships to determine whether people make us to be MORE or LESS. Someone who naturally drains your energy by being overtly negative or abusive or who encourages behaviour that is contrary to growth, is not worthwhile in creating a life of value. These people gradually make us to be LESS and need to be weeded from our existence.

Conscious living provides us with the awareness or knowingness to ascertain who is good for us and who needs to go. This is not about being a selfish "taker", but more about communing with people who share a common vision of making a meaningful life and generating a substantial two-way interaction.

Look carefully at who is in your life and make responsible choices to fashion the best life imaginable. Always choose to be MORE!

WALKING THROUGH FEAR

Nothing cripples nor immobilises more than fear. Fear keeps us prisoner to ourselves. Fear traps us in a cage of false understanding from which we can only flee when we have properly identified the fear.

We all experience fear and anxiety; but how many of us have ever spent the time writing about our fear and fully understanding what it represents. In essence, fear is only an emotion that does not exist in reality. Many of our fears are conditioned from negative childhood experiences or from other traumas which we dread to re-enact. The beliefs that these conditionings create need to be dismantled, because whilst the feeling of fear is real, it is generally not based on truth.

Once we have identified our fears, by writing about them in the most candid way possible, we are capable to start the process of addressing and disempowering our fears. Fear is dismantled over time by having the courage to take necessary action or to walk straight through it every time it manifests. Rather than trying to avoid the fear by numbing ourselves with mind altering substances, we need to consciously step right into the heart of the fear, to realise that over time it doesn't actuallyexist.

The more often we do this, the more we start to change our thinking and to create new neural pathways to more effective thought.

Like the "firewalkers" who walk barefoot through beds of red-hot coals unscathed, "firewalk" your fears and take back the power that is rightfully yours. Don't allow your life to be compromised by being passive about something you can change by taking charge progressively over time.

Always choose to be MORE!

EMBRACING THE GIFTS OF ADVERSITY, INCLUDING AIDS, TO EMPOWER A HURTING HUMANITY

In many respects, I am a modern day Job. Job was the Biblical Old Testament character who was stripped bare and suffered greatly. Through perseverance and tenacity of purpose, Job ultimately triumphed over adversity.

I have lived through the death of a much sought after child, faced an unwanted divorce, saw a considerable career in asset management and investment research implode in a bankruptcy precipitated by believing that the "credit crunch" should have started in early 1997. Following the loss of all my money, I endured nearly a decade in court facing serious criminal charges following that bankruptcy. My conviction (and subsequently being sentenced to 8 years in jail) was ultimately dropped in a High Court Appeal that lasted only 20 minutes! This finally proved the extreme travesty of justice of the earlier court fiasco. Four years ago, almost like the cherry on the cake, I was diagnosed with HIV and have twice lived in full-blown Aids.

I am now considerably healthy, both physically and emotionally. I do not view the adversities of the past as a God-inflicted punishment or bad luck. I believe I have been blessed with several disguised opportunities to grow and become MORE through extreme challenge. I now choose to share this learning to help millions of people who are caught in the current economic downturn as well as those who regularly think like victims never realising that such thinking only invites further hardship or struggle.

Having counselled people for over 25 years and now having written two inspirational books (the second book - "Choosing to be MORE!" to be published soon), as well as having taught hundreds of people life skills in groups and through the internet, as well as being the author of regular motivational/inspirational snippets, I now choose to launch Learning Circles Media, a diversified media company that aims to give people back to themselves.

As a visionary, I revolutionised the South African investment scene in 1989, by introducing the multi-manager approach to investment to this country. Foresight now tells me that Learning Circles is much needed in a hurting world to bring appropriate life skills teaching to the broader community. Most people are currently struggling with the huge evolutionary shift caused by severe and potentially prolonged economic hardship. The HIV/Aids pandemic and global warming are also calling for radically changed attitudes to ensure survival.

I wish to partner with like-minded "servant leaders" to bring Learning Circles to early fruition. Not since the Great Depression of the 1930's has the need been more urgent to help people find happiness and make sense out of chaos and to prosper from adversity. Those interested in becoming stakeholders of Learning Circles should email me at:

indigo-man@indigo-man.com

Very little capital is required; approx US$60 000!

Part of starting this exciting Learning Circles project would be the creation of the Isibani Trust (Isibani means "bringing the light"). The Isibani Trust would empower HIV+ women to rear and educate Aids orphans in self-sustaining communities, to make an invaluable contribution to their societies. Isibani would be largely staffed by HIV+ personnel who choose to change negative perceptions around HIV/Aids as well as giving back to life in meaningful ways.

The aim at the outset is to gather a team of people who choose to make a significant positive difference to as many people around the world as possible.

Now let's change the world in positive ways, because WE ALL CAN!

ODE TO JAMES

When you were born...
when I first saw your lovely, little face...
I knew this was to be the happiest day in my life.

In you, I saw a manifestation of my own being
present in the world.
My heart leapt...
it positively swelled with joy.

And now life has taken us down an unexpected road;
our paths have been prematurely split
not by design
not by any perverted wish
but by inexplicable fate.

Those moments together
frequently taken for granted,
have been cut short.

In those formative moments
when
I so dearly wish to watch you mature
we are apart...

Life decided you should have another "father"
not of your choice either.

When I do see you...
those fleeting snatches of heaven,
I feel the warm flame of love
that separation never extinguishes,
I see the longing in your eyes
I hear the forced understanding in your voice
and I know...

that we will never be divorced!

When I yearn for your touch
I understand how far away you have moved

then I know...

that all you came to teach me is now taught
and that any more is a waste!

I realise that is all I ever am
... alone!

In being alone, I begin to love myself more deeply

that nurtures so perfectly in the void left by another.

IT IS SOMETIMES DIFFICULT NOT TO FEEL LIKE A VICTIM

My purpose, my life's work, is to teach people the important art of self-love and the need to step beyond victimhood, to claim the magnificence of our lives. I was loathe to write this note because it is so personal, but then I realised that my life is ordained to be transparent, to be a clear mirror for others faced with the challenging road of life.

In the most recent few weeks, life has become progressively more difficult, where every door I encountered was closed and it felt as though my very existence was being shut down. Without the discipline of persistent journaling and regular meditation, I would never have coped.

Having lived through the death of a child, an unwanted divorce, a bankruptcy that imploded a highly successful career in asset management and the loss of all worldly possessions, followed by ten years in court faced with clearing my name of criminal charges that were "cruel scapegoating", then to face the so-called shame of changed sexual orientation and finally to succumb to HIV/Aids and feel the reality of living with a body brought to its limits by Aids, I have tasted the bitter-sweet of adversity on nearly every plane imaginable.

In all of these extraordinary travails, I have tried to cultivate an indomitable positive spirit; an attitude that has served me well when darkness could have consumed me in a lingering depression. I have frequently wanted to be Life's victim, numbed by the ache of considerable loss and used that sorrow to dwell in oceans of self-pity, but I know how self-defeating such a state of mind can be. That does not mean we mustn't mourn our losses and feel our pain. That step is vital to our healing, but to remain trapped there is a waste of life.

As Life's challenges became more extreme over the past few weeks, I kept using my journaling and meditation as sound practice to maintain sanity in the face of overwhelming pressure. These two activities kept bringing light into a space that was getting progressively darker. Journaling forces us to confront our real feelings and meditation facilitates the release from stress through letting go.

Then on Friday 20 March, a host of "angels" started appearing. These people unexpectedly called and messaged without any prompting and universally declared a similar message:
They concurred that I was living on purpose and making a valid contribution to a hurting world. Without any positive feedback, we operate in a vacuum of seeming desolation. Just at the point where I entered the apex of this dark night of the soul, a time where suicide seemed the comfortable option, Spirit moved decisively by answering prayers with a perfection beyond my greatest imaginings.

Life is perfect! Life takes us into the dark chasm when we need to learn and grow and the dark night of the soul is the perfect crucible of extreme human transformation, where we meet the awesome omnipotence of the Creator as we surrender to the possibility of another way. In that crisis, we can give up and lose hope which is to lose everything. Or we can "give over", which is to invite the Miraculous into our lives which heralds results beyond comprehension. As we surrender, we begin to see real purpose and let go of the trivialities of ego. Slowly we start to witness the paradox of our brokeness being the absolute perfection and we learn to accept ourselves just as we are, with all our apparent flaws and we move beyond perfectionism into experiencing "All that IS".

In the late 1980's, I had a vision of a new way of practicising investment management. That vision revolutionised the South African investment scene. In late 1996, I envisioned a world succumbing to a massive "debt-bust" that would give rise to the greatest depression experienced in modern economic history. My timing was out, culminating in my spectacular bankruptcy, but the credit crunch which started in
2008 is the early beginning of a downward spiral that is going to change the face of economic history forever. Banking as we knew it, will never be the same again!

I am privileged to have experienced all the life changing events that have ricocheted through my recent past. They may not have been easy, but they have been completely transformational. My duty is to take that valuable experience to help those caught in turmoil, to empower them to love themselves enough to never think like hapless victims. My life is tasked with using what has been given me to guide people through considerable storms, to bring light and to rekindle hope when all seems lost.

It is sometimes difficult not to feel like a victim. As I struggled to make sense of the past few challenging weeks, I frequently lapsed into deep despair and fretful self-pity to the point of wanting to end it all. But as I slowly allowed the hand of Spirit to guide me, I started to see the perfection in my struggle and saw how some of my greatest unanswered questions suddenly revealed extraordinary answers. Out of this trauma has been birthed a vision of a new entity that will hopefully help tens of millions gain renewed hope when all seems so lost.

Every vision begins with a small step repeatedly followed by other small steps. I invite you and anyone who you consider needs guidance in difficult times to join this journey of hope going forward. Let's use the internet wisely to connect beneficially in ways that promote the highest ideals, that reflect the best of humanity where we individually drop our facades in an effort to show the real face of brotherly love and meaningful compassion. Through the free inspirational/motivational snippets I post through the Facebook group called "Life Support for the Conscious", I will unfold all that has been revealed to me as an aid to helping others make sense of extreme difficulty.

To feel like a victim is to be a victim! Rather choose to use adversity to be MORE, to grow and to make the very most of the precious gift of life!
